Whether you’re in the midst of a new chapter in your life or just starting over, Los Angeles has some great things for you to do this year. From couples therapy to outdoor movie outings, this city has something for everyone. Check out these helpful tips for doing the usual things in LA — and what you can do instead — when you’re about to hit the end of the year.

Plan your week

One of the things you’ll want to do this year is plan out your week. Whether you’re going to the movies, taking a rain shower, or running around in the park, you’ll want to make sure you’re figureming out where you can best spend your time. There are so many amazing places to visit this year, and you don’t even have to be a tourist to understand how wonderful it would be to see them all.

Take a day to yourself

If you’re super stressed out or simply looking for some alone time, go for it. Yes, it’s super Kathmandu-like to sit in the desert for the day, but there are ways to make the most of it. If you’re able to, take a few days to yourself. Get in some quality time with yourself, even if it’s only for a few hours. Take some slow, deep breaths. Give yourself a massage. Think about what you’d like to do next. Just spend some time getting yourself comfortable with who you are.

Go to the movies

You’re going to hit the streets of Hollywood pretty soon, and by then, you’ll have plenty of great options to choose from. There are so many great options to choose from this year, and you can find the perfect place to greet the new year in L.A. under the stars, on the beach, or in the middle of a desert. The world’s most beautiful city is full of amazing options, and it’s easy to see why.

Take a rain shower

If you’re looking for a quick, pain-free soak in the tub or shower, a rain shower is for you. No need to haul your laptop or other gear out with you, as these showers are going to be enough for you and your family. The rain showers are typically not that expensive, and they’re really relaxing. So whether you’re looking for a gift for a loved one, a surprise for a friend, or just want some relaxation, a rain shower is perfect.

Run around in the park

You’re going to want to do this in L.A. this year, aren’t you? Run around in the park, don’t you? You may even want to take your dog too. It’s what friends do, and they loved it. Run and play, as they called it. You can find great places to run around in the park this year, and you don’t have to be a professional athlete to get involved in panel discussions, art exhibits, and other fun activities.

Write your to-do list

If you’re looking for a list of things to do this year that you can start to plan for this coming winter, you’re in luck. There are so many great things to do in L.A., it’s hard to pick just one. So many things to do, so many places to go, so much to see and do, you’ll have no time to do anything else. So write down your to-do list and make it a priority to get going. You’re going to need that energy to take care of the kids and make it through the cold and the snow and the rain.

Stay hydrated

You might not be a sports fan, but try this at home — and you’ll see what I mean! Try out a couple of the ways that I outline in my blog, and you’ll see how easy it is to stay hydrated. First, stay hydrated in the night. In the night, CO2 is more burdensome than it is in the day, so having easy, drinkable snacks is crucial. Include meat or poultry, cheese or even sunflower seeds in your nightly snack to clear your stomach. Second, drink water when you’re out, especially after strenuous activities. It’s more lightweight and refreshing than full-on coffee. They also make lemon water in jars and bottles, perfect for guests who are looking for a drink to celebrate the new year.

Wrap up: In case of emergency

If you’re coming to L.A. for the first time and don’t know what to do, here are some things to look out for this coming winter. With more than 100 plus ecosystems in the city, which makes it the most diverse place in the country, weather conditions can vary from hot, humid to cold, snowy, etc. It’s easy to become over-saturated with too much information, stressed out, and faced with various emergencies. So before you apply the brakes on and head to the store, take a few minutes to take stock of what to do in case of emergency.

Plan your next step

For the most part, you can expect to do a lot less stuff this year than you did last year. So to make your New Year’s plan a little more unique and interesting, make a list of what you’re going to do this year and take it to the bank. You may have to do a little bit of everything, but you’ll have some of your favorite things to do in L.A. to keep you company on the block. And don’t put too much pressure on yourself. You can do this, and you can succeed, without even realizing it. So go for it.

Conclusion

You’re probably going to do a lot less this year than last year, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t do anything. The key is to keep doing what you love and having a great time in L.A. This is the year that you hit a critical milestone — you’re going to hit 30, you’re going to be a widow, you’re going to have a baby, and you’re going to do whatever it takes to make this year the best year of your life. So don’t stop looking for new experiences and new ways to spend your time. Just look at what’s there and use that as an opportunity to expand your horizons and make new friends.
